Machine Learning and a Girlfriend

Everything started with me a 16 years old boy, who wanted to learn something about Machine Learning but also had other responsibilities, like high school, a Flutter app that I was working on, and a “Girlfriend”, it may not seem as much, but believe me…it was too much. Mostly because being honest this is the first time I ever take a relationship kind of seriously, at least as far as I can do so at this age.

Let me tell you that I did not really care, want to know why? Because I love challenges, so I decided to start with my “Machine Learning Path” (In another blog posts I will be talking about my path in-depth), it has been one of the best decisions I have ever taken, I fell in love with it so much that I was spending most of my time on it, learning about the math behind it and how to take that knowledge and create value.

Nonetheless, as you could imagine, the situation with my girlfriend was not wonderful because I barely had time for her and the conversations were from:

Her: “Wanna talk?”

Me: “Yeah sure”

to

Her: “Wanna talk?”

Me: insert an array of excuses*

At the start, she told me that she understood the reason, and she was okay with it, but that opinion didn’t last much, therefore days went by and the relationship began to decline. At this point, I knew I did not have to make an ML model to predict that our relationship was going to be doomed, and I decided to write a small post about it.

So here I am, not in my best days but maybe writing this can make me feel a little relieved. However, this is not going to stop me from learning and working to provide some kind of value to the world in the near-mid future.

We haven't broken up yet but that is very likely to happen, or maybe not, maybe I will become a better boyfriend who will be able to organize his time taking into account all the possible variables (Parents decisions, upcoming protects, time with friends, etc) and the already established constants (High school, Flutter, Machine Learning, Workout time).

Conclusion

Be aware of your time and use it wisely, keeping a balance between your personal goals and the people you care about.
